QUINCY L. JYNES, age 22, a resident of New Orleans, Louisiana, was sentenced in federal court today by U. S. District Judge Martin L. C. Feldman to twenty-one (21) months of incarceration for being a convicted felon in possession of a firearm, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten. In addition, the defendant was ordered to serve three (3) years supervised release during which time he will be under federal supervision and risks additional imprisonment should he violate the terms of his release.

According to court documents, JYNES previously pled guilty admitting on May 3, 2009, he was in illegally in possession of a firearm. JYNES was convicted on February 20, 2008 in Orleans for felony possession of cocaine.

The case was investigated by the New Orleans Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives and was prosecuted by Assistant U. S. Attorney Edward J. Rivera of the Violent Crime Unit.
