YONI JAVIER SANTOS-BUSTILLO, age 28, a citizen of Honduras, pled guilty in federal court today before U. S. District Judge Carl J. Barbier to a two-count indictment charging him with making a false statement or claim of U. S. citizenship and for misuse of a social security number, announced U. S. Attorney Jim Letten.

According to the factual basis, on or about August 14, 2008, BUSTILLO an alien in the United States knowingly made a false statement or claim that he was a United States citizen in order to obtain a Louisiana Identification Card. Also according to court document BUSTILLO falsely represented that a social security number was assigned to him, when in fact the social security number had not been assigned to him in order to obtain a Louisiana Identification Card.

BUSTILLO faces on each count, a maximum term of imprisonment of five(5) years imprisonment, a fine of $250,000, and three (3) years of supervised release following any term of imprisonment. Sentencing has been scheduled for March 22, 2012 at 9:30 A.M.

The case was investigated by U. S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement, Homeland Security Investigations. The case is being prosecuted by Special Assistant U. S. Attorney Joe La Rocca.
