ROBBER OF 13 BANKS SENTENCED TO 87 MONTHS

GREENBELT, Maryland - United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein announces that today U.S. District Court Judge Alexander Williams, Jr. sentenced David Antonio Massey, age 25, of Washington, D.C. to 87 months in prison followed by 3 years of supervised release for conspiracy to commit bank robbery and bank robbery. Judge Williams also ordered that Massey pay restitution in the amount of $ 52,736.

According to the statement of facts presented to the court, Massey entered the following banks located in Maryland, handed the tellers a note demanding $50 and $100 bills and fled with a total of $61,184 from the banks:

June 7, 2004, Sun Trust Bank, 9411 Annapolis Road, Lanham, fled without money;
June 25, 2004, Chevy Chase Bank, 1040 Largo Center Dr., Largo, $1,350;
July 2, 2004, SunTrust Bank, 7701 Greenbelt Road, Greenbelt, $5,460;
July 16, 2004, Chevy Chase Bank, 10800 Baltimore Ave., Beltsville, fled without money;
July 16, 2004, Chevy Chase Bank, 7350Annapolis Road, Lanham, $3,530;
July 26, 2004, Wachovia Bank, 5720 Silver Hill Road, District Heights, $5,550
August 18, 2004, Wachovia Bank, 6175 Oxon Hill Road, Oxon Hill, $11,400;
August 19, 2004, Provident Bank, 1050 Shoppers Way, Largo, $5,150;
September 23, 2004, Chevy Chase Bank, 6200 Annapolis Road, Landover Hills, $4,000;
September 23, 2004, M&T Bank, 6262 Oxon Hill, Oxon Hill, $4,500;
October 1, 2004, SunTrust Bank, 8211 Ardwick-Ardmore Road, Landover, $1,070;
October 8, 2004, Chevy Chase Bank, 4740 Cherry Hill Road, College Park, $10,678;

On October 28, 2004 Massey and co-defendant Douglas Davis entered the Chevy Chase Bank, 6107 Greenbelt Road. Massey handed a teller a demand note and the teller gave Massey $3,520. Massey and Davis fled. Later that day, FBI agents observed Massey, Davis, and co-defendant Dennis Massey exit a vehicle which a witness to an earlier robbery had identified, and enter a residence. The three defendants were arrested on October 28, 2004 when they left the residence.

Davis was sentenced on October 5, 2005 to 115 months followed by three years of supervised release, and Dennis Massey was sentenced on September 22, 2005 to 105 months in prison followed by 3 years of supervised release, both for conspiracy to commit bank robbery and bank robbery.
