SERIAL BANK ROBBER SENTENCED TO 6 ½ YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON
Baltimore, Maryland - U.S. District Judge Andre M. Davis sentenced Craig Joseph Mills, age 45, of Baltimore late yesterday to 78 months in prison followed by three years of supervised release for bank robbery, announced United States Attorney for the District of Maryland Rod J. Rosenstein. Judge Davis also ordered Mills to pay restitution of $31,066.
According to his guilty plea, from April 2005 to February 15, 2007, Mills robbed 15 banks, in each instance approaching the teller, slamming his hand on the counter implying that he had a weapon and demanding money. Mills stole a total of $32,766 over this two year period. $1,600 was later recovered.
Specifically, Mills robbed: the First Financial Federal Credit Union located at 7966 Belair Road, Fullerton, of $477 on April 15, 2005; the Hopkins Federal Savings Bank located at 1726 Reisterstown Road, Pikesville, of $2,200 on May 9, 2005; the Provident Bank, located at 3200 North Ridge Road, Ellicott City, of $1,980 on January 14, 2006 and $1,300 on October 20, 2006; the Fraternity Federal Savings Bank located at 8460 Route 40, Ellicott City, of $2,460 on January 20, 2006; the Provident Bank located at 401 Constant Friendship Boulevard, Abingdon, of $2,005 on February 8, 2006 and $1,550 on January 31, 2007; the Eastern Savings and Loan Bank located at 7927 Belair Road, Fullerton, of $1,000 on March 17, 2006; the America Bank located at 3301 North Ridge Road, Ellicott City, of $2,000 on April 15, 2006; the Regal Bank located at 10123 Reisterstown Road, Owings Mills, of $4,000 on June 10, 2006; the Spectrum Federal Credit Union located at 1041A West Patrick Street, Frederick, of $3,240 on August 1, 2006; the SunTrust Bank located at 10000 Baltimore National Pike, Ellicott City, of $1,240 on October 26, 2006; the Tower Federal Credit Union located at 9021 Snowden Square Drive, Columbia, of $5,450 on December 13, 2006; the M & T Bank located at 6093 Spring Ridge Parkway, Frederick, of $1,864 on January 17, 2007; the Point Breeze Credit Union, located at 2 Philadelphia Court, Rosedale, of $2,000 on February 15, 2007.
United States Attorney Rod J. Rosenstein thanked the Federal Bureau of Investigation for their investigative work, and commended Assistant United States Attorney Debbie Dwyer, who prosecuted the case.
