FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

KC MAN SENTENCED FOR DRUG TRAFFICKING

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Beth Phillips, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Kansas City, Mo., man was sentenced in federal court today for his role in a drug-trafficking conspiracy.

Kalib J. Delvalle, 25, of Kansas City, was sentenced by U.S. Chief District Judge Fernando J. Gaitan this morning to 12 years and six months in federal prison without parole.

On March 11, 2009, Delvalle pleaded guilty to conspiracy to distribute more than five kilograms of cocaine and to possession with the intent to distribute more than 50 grams of methamphetamine.

Delvalle was arrested during the execution of a search warrant at his residence, which was related to numerous sales of powder cocaine that Delvalle made to an undercover detective with the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department. When he was arrested, Delvalle had two bags containing methamphetamine in his pants pocket, which he admitted was intended for sale.

According to his plea agreement, Delvalle told law enforcement officers that he had been involved in the multi-kilogram distribution of cocaine for at least two years.

This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Brent Venneman. It was investigated by the Kansas City, Mo., Police Department.
