JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Beth Phillips, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced today that a Columbia, Mo., man has been sentenced in federal court for distributing crack cocaine in Boone County, Mo.
D’Mitri Antonio Doughty, 30, of Columbia, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Nanette K. Laughrey on Tuesday, Feb. 9, 2010, to 10 years in federal prison without parole.
On Sept. 17, 2009, Doughty pleaded guilty to distributing 50 grams or more of crack cocaine in Boone County. Doughty admitted that he sold slightly less than an ounce of powder cocaine to a confidential law enforcement source for $900 on Dec. 6, 2007. Doughty also admitted that he sold two more ounces of crack cocaine to the same law enforcement source on Dec. 13, 2007. The source paid $900 at the time of the transaction, and another $900 a few days later.
On Dec. 28, 2007, Doughty sold 124.4 grams of powder cocaine to the law enforcement source for $3,500 in a controlled undercover transaction. As he drove away from the scene of the transaction, Doughty was stopped and arrested.
This case was prosecuted by Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Lauren Kummerer. It was investigated by the Drug Enforcement Administration, MUSTANG (the Mid-Missouri Unified Strike Team and Narcotics Group), the Columbia, Mo., Police Department and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
