SENECA MAN SENTENCED FOR BANK ROBBERY
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Beth Phillips, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced that a Seneca, Mo., man was sentenced in federal court today for robbing a Conway, Mo., bank.
Billy Johnson, 30, of Seneca, was sentenced by U.S. District Judge Dean Whipple this afternoon to five years and three months in federal prison without parole.
On Dec. 10, 2009, Johnson pleaded guilty to robbing Central Bank, 602 W. Jefferson Ave., Conway. Johnson approached a bank teller on Oct. 29, 2009, and lifted his shirt to expose what appeared to be a handgun. Johnson demanded the teller place the money from her cash drawer on the counter, then took the money and left the bank. Johnson was later apprehended at a gas station in Marshfield, Mo.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney James J. Kelleher. It was investigated by the Laclede County, Mo., Sheriff’s Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
