FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
OWNER OF BOLIVAR ROOFING COMPANY SENTENCED FOR HIRING ILLEGAL ALIENS
WILL PAY $185,000 FORFEITURE PLUS $36,000 FINE
SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Beth Phillips, United States Attorney for the Western District of Missouri, announced today that the owner of a Bolivar, Mo., roofing company was sentenced in federal court today for hiring illegal aliens.
Russell D. Taylor, 31, of Bolivar, was sentenced by U.S. Magistrate Judge James C. England this morning. Taylor did business as Taylor-Made Roofing, also known as Taylor-Made Contractors.
On Sept. 14, 2009, Taylor pleaded guilty to hiring, contracting and sub-contracting for hire to obtain the labor of illegal aliens from August 2006 through April 2008.
The court today ordered Taylor to forfeit to the government $185,363, which represents the amount of proceeds obtained as a result of the offense, and to pay a fine of $36,000, which represents a $3,000 fine for each of the 12 illegal aliens who worked under the supervision of Juan Pacheco-Herrera. Pacheco-Herrera has pleaded guilty, in a separate but related case, to harboring illegal aliens. The court also sentenced Taylor to serve five years of probation. As a condition of probation, Taylor must implement an employment compliance plan and must pay the $185,363 money judgment in monthly installments in the first 30 months of probation.
This case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Robyn L. McKee. It was investigated by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement.
