Federal prosecutor appointed to violence against women federal and tribal prosecution task force
United States Attorney Kenneth J. Gonzales announced that United States Attorney General Eric Holder has appointed Supervisory Assistant United States Attorney Glynette R. Carson-McNabb to the newly created Violence Against Women Federal and Tribal Prosecution Task Force. The thirteen-member Prosecution Task Force, which is chaired by the United States Attorney for the District of Nebraska, is comprised of six Assistant United States Attorneys from across the nation and six representatives from tribal governments. Ms. Carson-McNabb is the supervisor of the Indian Country Crimes Section of the United States Attorney’s Office. She has been an Assistant United States Attorney for ten years and has specialized in prosecuting violent crimes in New Mexico’s Indian Country, including offenses against women and children. Before joining the United States Attorney’s Office, Ms. Carson-McNabb was an Assistant District Attorney in the District Attorney’s Office for the Thirteen Judicial District (Valencia County) of the State of New Mexico for four years. She is a graduate of the Texas Tech University School of Law.
United States Attorney Gonzales applauded Mr. Holder’s decision to include Ms. Carson- McNabb on the Prosecution Task Force and noted that she is extremely well qualified for the position:
Glynette Carson-McNabb brings tremendous hands-on experience and expertise in prosecuting Indian Country offenses, especially those involving women and children, to the Violence Against Women Federal and Tribal Task Force. Given her unwavering commitment to safeguarding our Native communities and her can-do, roll-up your sleeves work ethic, I have no doubt that she will be a tremendous asset to the Prosecution Task Force and that she will provide to the Attorney General the same sage advice that she provides to me in her capacity as the supervisor of my Office’s Indian Country Crimes Section. My Office and the Native communities it serves will benefit greatly from Ms. Carson-McNabb’s participation in the Prosecution Task Force.
