Albuquerque Man Receives 28-Month Prison Sentence for Federal Bank Robbery Conviction
ALBUQUERQUE – Today in federal court, Albuquerque resident Francisco Gonzalez, Jr., 51, was sentenced to a 28-month term of imprisonment to be followed by a three-year term of supervised release based on his federal bank robbery conviction. Gonzalez has been in federal custody since his arrest on August 17, 2010.
United States Attorney Kenneth J. Gonzales said that Gonzalez was arrested on August 17, 2010 based on a criminal complaint charging him with robbing the New Mexico Bank & Trust located at 3002 Louisiana Boulevard NE in Albuquerque (Bank). The complaint alleges that, shortly afternoon that day, a subject presented a demand note to a teller that directed her to put the money in the bag, and fled on foot after obtaining money from the teller. Acting on information from a reliable source, officers of the Albuquerque Police Department (APD) arrested Gonzalez, who fit the description of the subject who robbed the Bank.
Gonzalez was indicted on bank robbery charges on September 16, 2010, and entered a guilty plea on October 28, 2010 under a plea agreement with the United States Attorney's Office.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the APD, and was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Lynn W.Y. Wang.
