
April, 2007 - United States Attorney Patrick L. Meehan and Montgomery County District Attorney Bruce L. Castor, Jr. today announced the filing of a four-count indictment* charging Terrance Manuel with one count of possession with intent to distribute cocaine, one count of possession with intent to distribute 5 grams or more of crack cocaine, one count of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, and one count of possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. The indictment alleges that on February 24, 2006, Manuel possessed with intent to distribute approximately 12.9 grams of crack cocaine, and approximately 56.53 grams of cocaine powder. It is further alleged that Manuel possessed in furtherance of these drug trafficking crimes a 9mm Jennings semi-automatic handgun loaded with twelve rounds of ammunition.
This indictment is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, an initiative by the United States Attorney’s Office, Montgomery County District Attorney’s Office, Borough of Norristown Police Department, and The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco & Firearms, to identify and prosecute firearms offenders in federal court, where the defendants are likely to receive a substantial sentence upon conviction. If convicted the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of lifetime imprisonment, a mandatory minimum sentence of fifteen years imprisonment, a $4,500,000 fine, and an $400 special assessment.
