
February 9, 2007 - United States Attorney Patrick L. Meehan today announced that a grand jury sitting in Philadelphia returned a one-count indictment* against Abdul Kariem Muhammed, a/k/a “Gerald Rodgers,” charging him with being a felon in possession of a firearm, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 922(g)(1). The charge arises from the defendant’s possession of a loaded 9mm Taurus model PT111 handgun, on various dates from January 2006 until October 11, 2006.

If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of 10 years imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, three years of supervised release, forfeiture of the firearm and ammunition, and a $100 special assessment.
The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania State Attorney General’s Office, Office of Inspector General. The case has been assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Mary E. Crawley.
