
February 27, 2007 - United States Attorney Patrick L. Meehan and Philadelphia District Attorney Lynne Abraham today announced the filing of a one-count indictment* charging that Alonzo Wallace, on November 2, 2006, possessed a firearm in Philadelphia after having been convicted of a crime punishable by more than one year in prison.

If convicted the defendant faces a statutory maximum sentence of 10 years imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, three years supervised release, and a $100 special assessment.
This case was investigated by the Philadelphia Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives, and the Federal Bureau of Investigation. This case is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, a federal initiative designed to identify and prosecute firearms offenders in federal court, where the defendant is likely to receive a substantial sentence upon conviction. The case has been assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Louis D. Lappen.
