February 7, 2007 - United States Attorney Patrick L. Meehan today announced the filing of an eight-count indictment* charging JAMES THOMAS WEED with mailing letters containing threats to injure persons associated with the Pennsbury School District, Falls Township, Pennsylvania, the Oxford Valley Elementary School, Fairless Hills, Pennsylvania, The Free Press, Quakertown, Pennsylvania, the Middletown Violations Bureau, Middletown, New Jersey, the Milford School, Milford, New Jersey, the East Windsor Township Violations Bureau, East Windsor, New Jersey, the Windsor Hights Herald, Hightstown, New Jersey, and the Trenton Times, Trenton, New Jersey, between on or about October 30, 2006, and on or about November 1, 2006.

If convicted, the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of forty-years imprisonment, 3 years of supervised release, a $2,000,000 fine, and a $800 special assessment.

The case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and has been assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Jose R. Arteaga.
