States Attorney Patrick L. Meehan today announced the filing of a two-count
indictment* charging that Hoa Kim Hat and Thanh Lam conspired to distribute
and possess with intent to distribute approximately 9,968 pills, weighing
approximately 3,987 grams, of 3,4 methylendioxymethamphetamine (MDMA, also
known as "ecstasy"), and possessed those drugs with intent to
distribute, on October 31, 2006, in Philadelphia, PA.
If convicted, the defendants each face 40 years imprisonment, a three year minimum
mandatory term of supervised release, a potential $1 million fine, and a $200
mandatory special assessment.
