July 13, 2007 - United States Attorney Patrick L. Meehan today announced the filing of a two count information* charging CHRISTOPHER CHEATHAM with making false statements in connection with the acquisition of a firearm, in violation of Title 18, United States Code, Section 924(a)(1)(A). The information alleges that on September 8 and October 15, 2005, CHEATHAM made false statements in the purchase of firearms. The firearms that CHEATHAM purchased are: a Glock Model 19, 9mm pistol, serial number HNL058; and, a Glock Model 19, 9mm pistol, serial number CGM917US.
This information is part of Project Safe Neighborhoods, an initiative by the United States Attorney’s Office, all District Attorney’s Offices in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Philadelphia Police Department and other law enforcement agencies, to identify and prosecute firearms offenders in federal court, where the defendants are likely to receive a substantial sentence upon conviction. The total maximum penalty facing Cheatham is 10 years imprisonment, 3 years supervised release, $500,000 fine and a $200 special assessment.
