
June 13, 2007 - United States Attorney Patrick L. Meehan today announced the filing of an indictment* charging Timothy Barham and Roma Hough with one count of conspiracy to provide contraband to a federal inmate, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 371. The indictment further charges Timothy Barham with one count of possession of contraband by a federal prisoner in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1791(a)(2), and Roma Hough and Timothy Barham with one count of providing, and aiding and abetting the providing of, contraband to a federal inmate, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 1791(a)(1), 2. The indictment alleges during a February 3, 2007 visit with Barham, who was incarcerated at the Federal Detention Center in Philadelphia, Hough provided Barham a bag of potato chips that contained 12 small white balloons, 10 of which were filled with tobacco and two of which were filled with marijuana.

If convicted the defendants face a maximum possible sentence of 10 years imprisonment, a three-year period of supervised release, and a $500,000 fine.
The case was investigated by the FBI, Philadelphia Field Division, and has been assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Karen M. Klotz.
