May 9, 2007 - United States Attorney Patrick L. Meehan today announced that the grand jury has returned an indictment* charging Aneza Abalo with thirty-one counts of aiding and assisting in the filing of false tax returns. The indictment charges that Abalo, while operating a tax preparation business in Levittown and Bristol, Pennsylvania in 2003 and 2004, filed returns for her tax preparation clients claiming false and inflated deductions, exemptions, and tax credits.

If convicted the defendant faces a maximum possible sentence of 93 years imprisonment, one year supervised release, and a fine of $3,100,000.
The case was investigated by the Criminal Investigation Division of the Internal Revenue Service and has been assigned to Assistant United States Attorney Emily McKillip.
