SERIAL BANK ROBBER WHO IS BEING HELD ON MURDER WARRANT IN COLLIN COUNTY ADMITS ROBBING Defendant’s Accomplice, the “Ms. December Bandit,”Was Arrested Caster Deryl Chatman, Jr., a/k/a “Cash” and “Junior,” pled guilty today in federal court before the Honorable A Joe Fish, United States Chief District Judge, to robbing numerous banks in the Dallas area in November and December 2005. Chatman, age 23, of Lancaster, Texas, pled guilty to six counts of bank robbery as outlined in an indictment returned by a federal grand jury in Dallas on February 23, 2006. Chatman also judicially stipulated that he robbed six additional banks Chatman surrendered to law enforcement on February 26, 2006 and was immediately arrested by Plano, Texas, police in connection with the February 25, 2006 shooting death of a Plano man. Chatman faces a maximum statutory sentence of 120 years imprisonment and a $1.5 million fine on the bank robbery convictions. He is scheduled to be sentenced by Judge Fish on September 26, 2006. • November 14, 2005 Bank of America • November 17, 2005 Bank of America • December 6, 2005 Bank of America • December 10, 2005 Bank of America • December 10, 2005 Bank of America • December 13, 2005 Wells Fargo Bank • December 15, 2005 Wells Fargo Bank • December 16, 2005 Chase Bank • December 16, 2005 Wells Fargo Bank • December 30, 2005 Chase Bank An accomplice of Chatman’s in several of the bank robberies, Aaron Wade Doss, pled guilty in federal court on April 20, 2006 to three counts of bank robbery and is scheduled to be sentenced on August 24, 2006. Doss, age 19, of Quinland, Texas, faces a maximum statutory sentence of 60 years imprisonment and a $750,000 fine. Chatman and another accomplice known as the “Ms. December Bandit, a 16-year-old female currently on bond, committed eight bank robberies between December 6 and December 30, 2005. The female juvenile was arrested on December 30, 2005 following the robbery of the Chase Bank on Preston Road and was certified as an adult in Dallas County in March 2006. She faces multiple State bank robbery charges. Chatman admitted that he and this female agreed to assist each other in robbing several banks in and around the Dallas area. Chatman would pick up this female from high school and they would go rob banks. Generally the female would enter the bank and approach a teller, handing the teller a note demanding money and stating that said she had a gun. She would depart the banks with the money, meet Chatman outside the bank, then they would depart the bank together and Chatman would return her back to school. She and Chatman split the proceeds from the robberies. U.S. Attorney Roper praised the investigative efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Dallas, Richardson, Grand Prairie, Cedar Hill, Desoto, Irving and Plano Police Departments. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Rick Calvert. ###
