GRAND PRAIRIE METHAMPHETAMINE DEALERS
SENTENCED TO LENGTHY FEDERAL PRISON TERMS

United States Attorney Richard B. Roper announced that two defendants who pled guilty to possessing methamphetamine with the intent to distribute, were sentenced this week in U.S. District Court in Fort Worth, Texas, by the Honorable John McBryde, United States District Judge, to lengthy prison sentences.

Judge McBryde sentenced Fidel Giron, age 30, of Grand Prairie, Texas, to serve a total of 211 months in prison. Giron pled guilty to one count of possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute, and Judge McBryde sentenced him to 151 months imprisonment for that offense. Giron also pled guilty to one count of possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime and was sentenced to serve 60 months imprisonment on that count, consecutive to his 151 month sentence on the drug count

In a separate case, Adriana Martinez-Ramos, age 34, a citizen of Mexico who resided in Grand Prairie, Texas immediately prior to her arrest, was sentenced to 60 months imprisonment. Last month, Judge McBryde sentenced her co-defendant, Conrado Giron, to 235 months imprisonment, following his guilty plea to charges stemming from the same incident that led to Martinez-Ramos's conviction and sentence. In late May, Giron met with Adriana Martinez-Ramos and an undercover police officer at an apartment in Grand Prairie, Texas and discussed selling methamphetamine to the undercover officer. They agreed that the undercover officer would rent a room at a hotel in Arlington, Texas and that Giron and Martinez-Ramos would deliver one pound of methamphetamine to the officer at the hotel room. Later that day, Martinez-Ramos delivered the methamphetamine to the undercover officer in his room at the hotel, while Giron waited in the car. Martinez-Ramos was arrested in the hotel room and Giron was arrested outside the hotel

U.S. Attorney Roper praised the investigative efforts of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Fort Worth, Arlington, and Grand Prairie police departments. The cases were prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Alan Buie.
