FUGITIVE APPREHENDED IN FEMA FRAUD CASE United States Attorney Richard B. Roper and Daniel S. Cortez, Postal Inspector in Charge of the U.S. Postal Inspection Service, Fort Worth Division, announced that Lakietha Hall, a fugitive from justice, was apprehended this morning following a tip from a concerned citizen who heard their request for assistance in finding this defendant. Hall, age 35, was arrested this morning without incident at a residence in Dallas by U.S. Postal Inspectors and agents from the Department of Labor. Lakietha Hall faces numerous federal charges stemming from her role as a ring leader in a FEMA fraud scheme in which she allegedly received approximately $80,000 in fraudulently obtained Hurricane Katrina disaster benefits. Hall has been a fugitive since she failed to appear for her arraignment on those charges in January. If convicted on all charges, Hall faces a maximum statutory sentence of 105 years in federal prison. U.S. Attorney Roper and Inspector Cortez extend their thanks to the good citizen who called the U.S. Postal Inspection Service with the tip that directly led to the arrest of Hall and to the local media who assisted in distributing information to the public about this fugitive. # # #
