LUBBOCK MAN PLEADS GUILTY IN
FEDERAL CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CASE

Defendant Took Sexually Explicit Photos of Elementary School Girl

United States Attorney Richard B. Roper announced that David Leroy Kennimer of Lubbock, Texas, pled guilty this morning in federal court in Lubbock, Texas, before the Honorable Sam R. Cummings, United States District Judge, to one count of production of child pornography, in violation of 18 U.S.C. § 2251(a). He faces a maximum statutory sentence of not less than 15 years imprisonment nor more than 30 years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine. Following the plea of guilty, Judge Cummings ordered a pre-sentence investigation with sentencing to be scheduled after that investigation is completed. Kennimer, age 19, is being held in the custody of the Lubbock County Jail pursuant to a related state felony charge.

On September 25, 2005, Kennimer went to an elementary school in Lubbock offering to volunteer at the school. While at the school, Kennimer paid a six-year-old girl to photograph her and photographed her after he directed her to pull her underwear down. Kennimer photographed this child in at least two of these poses. Kennimer then left the school campus and viewed the sexually explicit photos on the digital camera that he used, and then attempted to delete the images.

U.S. Attorney Roper commended the investigative efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation, the Lubbock Police Department, and the Lubbock Independent School District. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Steven M. Sucsy, of the Lubbock, Texas, United States Attorney's Office.
