Tax Preparer Pleads Guilty to Federal Tax Charge Robert John Tesson of Dallas, a tax preparer, pled guilty in federal court on Wednesday, November 29th, to one count of filing false or fictitious income tax returns, announced United States Attorney Richard B. Roper. Tesson faces a maximum statutory sentence of three years imprisonment, a $100,000 fine and restitution. He is scheduled to be sentenced by the Honorable A. Joe Fish, United States Chief District Judge, on February 20, 2007. In entering his plea before Judge Fish, Tesson admitted that he supervised the preparation of a client’s U.S. individual tax return for 2002, but without his client’s knowledge or consent, falsely inflated the amount of deductions the client was entitled to claim. This resulted in the client receiving more of a refund than he otherwise would have been entitled to receive. The government and Tesson agree that the total loss amount, based on all 41 counts of the indictment as well as the overall charged and uncharged scheme, does not exceed $58,072.00 # # #
