Lubbock County Resident Pleads Guilty to Federal Child Porn Charges

United States Attorney Richard B. Roper announced that Michael D. Toomey, Lubbock, Texas, pled guilty today before the Honorable Sam R. Cummings, United States District Judge, to four counts of interstate transportation of child pornography and two counts of possession of child pornography. Toomey, age 60, faces a maximum statutory sentence of not less than five years imprisonment nor more than 20 years imprisonment and a $250,000 fine for each of the transportation counts, and a sentence of up to 10 years imprisonment, and a $250,000 fine for each of the possession counts. Following the plea of guilty, Judge Cummings ordered a pre-sentence investigation with sentencing to be scheduled after that investigation is completed.

U.S. Attorney Roper commended the investigative efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation - Lubbock Resident Agency, and the Lubbock Police Department. The case is being prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Steven M. Sucsy.
