LUBBOCK MAN SENTENCED TO 30 YEARS
IN FEDERAL PRISON, WITHOUT PAROLE,
FOLLOWING CHILD PORN CONVICTION

United States Attorney Richard B. Roper announced that Michael D. Toomey was sentenced on Friday by the Honorable Sam R. Cummings, United States District Judge, to 30 years imprisonment. Toomey, age 60, of Lubbock, entered a guilty plea on February 6, 2006, to all six counts of an indictment charging him with possession and transportation of computer files containing pornographic images of children. Toomey was also ordered to pay $600 in special assessments, and was ordered to serve a term of supervised release of life.

U.S. Attorney Roper praised the investigative efforts of the Federal Bureau of Investigation - Lubbock Resident Agency, the Lubbock Police Department, the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force, Dallas, Texas. The case was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Steven M. Sucsy of the Lubbock, Texas, United States Attorney's Office.
