DALLAS MAN SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON
ON FIREARMS CONVICTIONS

DALLAS — Terry Blanet Hukill, 44, of Dallas, who pled guilty in September to firearms charges, was sentenced to 180 months (15 years) in prison by U.S. District Judge Jane J. Boyle, announced U.S. Attorney Richard B. Roper of the Northern District of Texas. Hukill was convicted of possession of a prohibited firearm (a “sawed-off” shotgun) and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

In October 2006, Hukill, a convicted felon, was arrested by officers of the Dallas Police Department and was found to be in possession of 21 firearms, including a “sawed -off” shotgun.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and prosecuted by the U.S. Attorney’s Office under the Project Safe Neighborhoods program, a nationwide effort targeting gun crime.

U.S. Attorney Roper praised the investigative efforts of the ATF and the Dallas Police Department.

The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Gary Tromblay.
