TARRANT COUNTY MEN ARRESTED ON
FEDERAL CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGES

FORT WORTH, Texas — Two Tarrant County, Texas, men, charged in unrelated federal indictments with receipt and possession of child pornography, were arrested this week by federal law enforcement agents, announced U.S. Attorney Richard B. Roper, of the Northern District of Texas. Each is charged in a separate indictment returned earlier this week by a federal grand jury in Fort Worth.

Ricky Neal Meuir, 44, was arrested at his home in Fort Worth yesterday afternoon by U.S. Secret Service agents and officers of the Fort Worth Police Department. According to the indictment, Meuir allegedly used the Internet to download still images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Daniel P. Daly, 51, a former Transportation and Security Administration employee at Dallas - Fort Worth International Airport, was arrested at his home in Euless, Texas, this morning by Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents. According to the indictment, Daly also used the Internet to download still images of minors engaged in sexually explicit conduct.

Both Meuir and Daly appeared in federal court today in Fort Worth for their initial appearances and were detained pending detentions hearings set for 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, October 24, before U.S. Magistrate Judge Charles M. Bleil in Fort Worth.

An indictment is an accusation by a federal grand jury and a defendant is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless proven guilty. However, if convicted on all counts, each defendant faces a maximum statutory sentence of 30 years in prison and a $500,000 fine.

These cases are being brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative designed to protect children from online exploitation and abuse. Led by the U.S. Attorneys Offices, Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend, and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as identify and rescue victims. U.S. Attorney Roper commended the investigative efforts of ICE, U.S. Secret Service and the Fort Worth Police Department. The cases are being prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Alex C. Lewis.
