DALLAS MAN SENTENCED TO 14 YEARS IN
FEDERAL PRISON, WITHOUT PAROLE, FOR FIREARM
AND DRUG CONSPIRACY CONVICTION

DALLAS - Jesse Robert Solis, of Dallas, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge David C. Godbey to 168 months (14 years) in prison, announced U.S. Attorney Richard B. Roper of the Northern District of Texas. Solis, 26, pled guilty in March to one count of conspiracy to distribute methamphetamine and one count of possessing a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking crime. Solis’s co-conspirator, Dallas resident Jack Jerome Parchment, 26, was sentenced in April to 151 months (more than 12 years) in prison for his role in the conspiracy.

On December 3, 2006, a confidential informant, working with officers from the Fort Worth Police Department and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, negotiated to buy methamphetamine from an individual known as “JP,” who was later identified as Jack Jerome Parchment. Shortly after midnight on the morning of December 4, 2006, the informant and Parchment arrived at the Amli Apartment complex near the 2500 block of Lemmon Avenue in Dallas. Soon thereafter, a black Chevrolet Tahoe, driven by Jesse Robert Solis, Parchment’s supplier, arrived. Solis exchanged the methamphetamine for $2,400 and then he and Parchment were arrested. A search of Solis’s vehicle revealed the $2,400 buy money in the driver’s side visor and a loaded .40 caliber firearm hidden between the driver’s seat and the center console. Solis also had an additional $3,044 in cash on his person. Parchment had the 112 grams of methamphetamine Solis had provided.

U.S. Attorney Roper praised the investigative efforts of the Fort Worth Police Department, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms & Explosives, and the Drug Enforcement Administration. The case is part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative, a federal program aimed toward the aggressive prosecution of gun crimes. Assistant U.S. Attorney Jordan A. Konig prosecuted the case.
