CONVICTED FELON SENTENCED TO 15 YEARS IN PRISON, DALLAS. — Jackie Phillip Sosebee, a Wichita Falls, Texas, man, who pled guilty in February to possession of firearm ammunition by a convicted felon, was sentenced today to 180 months in prison by U.S. Senior District Judge Jerry Buchmeyer, announced U.S. Attorney Richard B. Roper. Sosebee, 41, has been in custody since his arrest in September 2006 on charges outlined in a federal indictment. According to documents filed in the case, when officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department executed a search warrant at Sosebee’s residence in April 2006, they found numerous rounds of firearm ammunition inside the residence, including 48 rounds of Remington .38 firearm ammunition, six rounds of Winchester .380 caliber firearm ammunition, and 24 rounds of Remington .380 caliber firearm ammunition. Sosebee, who has state felony convictions for robbery and burglary, admitted that he knowingly possessed the ammunition. U.S. Attorney Roper praised the investigative work of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Wichita Falls Police Department. The case was presented to the U.S. Attorney's Office for federal prosecution as part of the Project Safe Neighborhoods initiative, which is geared toward the aggressive prosecution of firearm-related offenses. The case was prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Gary Tromblay. ###
