COLORADO CITY, TEXAS, MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO
CHILD PORNOGRAPHY CHARGE
LUBBOCK, Texas — A Colorado City, Texas, resident, Randall Dewarren Wilburn, pled guilty today to one count of interstate receipt of child pornography, announced U.S. Attorney Richard B. Roper of the Northern District of Texas. Wilburn, 40, entered his plea before U.S. District Judge Sam R. Cummings who ordered a pre-sentence investigation with sentencing to be scheduled after that investigation is completed. Wilburn was arrested in September on charges outlined in a federal indictment and has been in custody since that time. He faces a statutory maximum sentence of not less than five years nor more than 20 years in prison, and a $250,000 fine. He will be required to register as a sex offender.
A federal grand jury in Lubbock returned a five-count indictment in September charging Wilburn with three counts of receipt of child pornography and two counts of possession of child pornography. In documents filed in Court, Wilburn admitted that in 2006 and 2007, he intentionally and knowingly downloaded, and viewed video clips of child pornography, knowing that viewing and possessing the material was illegal. He obtained most of the video clips from “Limewire,” which he loaded on his computer and then used it to search for various videos located on the computers of other “Limewire” users who were logged onto the Internet. Wilburn used various searches to locate videos depicting sex acts between adult males and young girls.
