WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, MAN SENTENCED TO DALLAS — Gerrod Travor Robinson, 25, of Wichita Falls, Texas, was sentenced to 121 months in prison, without parole, by U.S. Chief District Judge Sidney A. Fitzwater for trafficking cocaine, announced U.S. Attorney Richard B. Roper. Robinson pled guilty in September to possession with intent to distribute cocaine. The facts reflect that on March 6, 2007, officers with the Wichita Falls Police Department received a tip that Robinson would be traveling on a Greyhound bus from Fort Worth, Texas, to Wichita Falls with cocaine. The officers set up surveillance at the bus station and when the bus arrived, the officers saw Robinson, who was holding a white bag, get off the bus. The officers stopped Robinson to investigate and discovered that he had ¼ kilogram of powder cocaine, a set of drug scales, and more than $5000 in U.S. currency, which they determined were proceeds of drug sales. Robinson admitted that he was involved in cocaine trafficking and stated that he regularly brought powder cocaine from the Metroplex to Wichita Falls, where the drug was “cooked” (converted) into the “crack” form for street-level sales. The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives and the Wichita Falls Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Gary Tromblay prosecuted the case. ### |
