PALO PINTO COUNTY, TEXAS, MAN SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS
IN FEDERAL PRISON, WITHOUT PAROLE, ON CHILD PORN CONVICTION

FORT WORTH, Texas — Shane Allen Davis was sentenced this morning by U.S. District Judge John McBryde to 120 months in prison, the maximum allowed by statute, following his guilty plea in November 2008 to one count of possession of child pornography, announced Acting U.S. Attorney James T. Jacks of the Northern District of Texas. Davis, 46, of Palo Pinto County, Texas, was also ordered to serve a lifetime of supervised release and register as a sex offender. Judge McBryde ordered that this federal sentence run consecutive to his state conviction of Indecency with a Child by Contact, for which he is currently serving time.

Davis admitted that he used the internet to download and possess three picture files and one video file of minor children engaged in sexually explicit conduct. In October 2004, the FBI assisted in the execution of a search warrant at Davis’s home and during that search, FBI agents encountered Davis at the residence. A forensic exam of his computer and related storage media was performed and agents discovered images of child pornography of children ranging in age from five to 14 engaged in posing and in sexual acts.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
