MAN WHO ROBBED SAN ANGELO FEDERAL CREDIT UNION
SENTENCED TO NEARLY FOUR YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON, WITHOUT PAROLE

Defendant Threatened to Bomb Building if Teller Didn’t Comply

LUBBOCK, Texas — A man who robbed the San Angelo Federal Credit Union last November, Jonathan Glyn Jameson was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Sam R. Cummings to 46 months in federal prison, announced acting U.S. Attorney James T. Jacks of the Northern District of Texas. Jameson, 37, was arrested the day after the robbery at his home in San Angelo, Texas, and pled guilty in December to one count of bank robbery.

In court documents, Jameson admitted that on November 19, 2008, at approximately 1:30 p.m., he entered the San Angelo Federal Credit Union, located at 235 W. 1st Street, in San Angelo, and provided a teller with a note that stated, “There are 3 bombs in this building in 3 designated areas. Put your drawer money in this bag & they will be disabled one minute after I leave building. Otherwise my phone can activate. Thank you.” The teller, fearing for her safety, complied. A search by law enforcement revealed no evidence of bombs in the building.

Investigators received information leading them to Jameson as the robber. He was arrested and consented to searches of his vehicle and residence, where some of the money from the robbery was located. Jameson had also given away some of the stolen money. All of the money from the robbery was recovered.

Mr. Jacks praised the investigative efforts of the FBI, the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office, and the San Angelo Police Department. Deputy Criminal Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney Denise Williams of the Lubbock, Texas, U.S. Attorney’s Office, prosecuted the case.
