LUBBOCK MAN SENTENCED TO MORE THAN EIGHT YEARS
IN FEDERAL PRISON, WITHOUT PAROLE,
FOR POSSESSING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

LUBBOCK, Texas — Timothy Earl Love, of Lubbock, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Sam R. Cummings to 97 months in prison, announced acting U.S. Attorney James T. Jacks of the Northern District of Texas. Love pled guilty in December to one count of possession of child pornography. Judge Cummings also ordered that Love register as a sex offender and serve a 30-year term of supervised release. He must surrender to the Bureau of Prisons on May 1, 2009.

Love admitted possessing a picture card on March 5, 2008, that contained a computer video file depicting a female child engaged in sexually explicit conduct with an adult male. Love admitted obtaining the video from the Internet, using a peer-to-peer online file sharing program. Although Love used his file sharing software to search for images and videos of child pornography on the Internet, he set the file sharing settings on the software to prevent file sharing from his computer.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. The case was investigated by the FBI and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Steven M. Sucsy of the Lubbock, Texas, U.S. Attorney's Office.
