GRAPEVINE, TEXAS, MAN SENTENCED TO 10 YEARS
On November 19, 2009, special agents with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) executed a federal search warrant at Callaway’s residence in Grapevine, Texas. Callaway was home at the time. A forensic examination of his computer and related storage media was performed, and agents discovered more than 100 video clips of child pornography. According to plea documents filed in the case, Callaway admitted using the Internet to receive numerous images and videos of child pornography of female children, ages 10 to 12, engaged in posing and in sexual acts. “Each of the child pornography images Calloway received represents an innocent and helpless child victim,” said John Chakwin Jr., special agent in charge of the ICE Office of Investigations in Dallas. “Our ICE agents are committed to identifying, investigating and pursuing prosecution against anyone who produces, shares or possesses this perverted product.” Chakwin oversees 128 counties in north Texas and the State of Oklahoma. This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice, to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by United States Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
