WICHITA FALLS, TEXAS, MAN SENTENCED TO MORE THAN 15 YEARS
IN FEDERAL PRISON FOR POSSESSING FIREARM

 

DALLAS — Richard Ray Harrimon, 43, of Wichita Falls, Texas, an armed career criminal, was sentenced today by Chief U.S. District Judge Sidney A. Fitzwater to 188 months in federal prison, announced U.S. Attorney James T. Jacks of the Northern District of Texas. Harrimon had pleaded guilty to two counts of possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.

According to documents filed, on February 6, 2007, Harrimon, a convicted felon, pawned a Mossberg, model 702, .22 caliber rifle at City Jewelry & Loan in Wichita Falls. On March 30, an officer with the Wichita Falls Police Department, observed Harrimon driving a pickup truck in Wichita Falls. Law enforcement searched his vehicle and discovered several firearms inside, including a Winchester, model 190, .22 caliber rifle; a Savage, model 110, 30-06 caliber rifle; a Marlin, model 60, .22 caliber rifle; and a High Standard, model Double Nine, .22 caliber rifle.

Harrimon had been previously convicted on several federal felony offenses in Wichita County including: burglary of a building in 1986; burglary of a habitation in June 2002; and evading arrest/detention using a vehicle in November 2003 and in December 2004.

The case was investigated by the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) and the Wichita Falls Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Gary C. Tromblay was in charge of the prosecution.
