MAN SENTENCED TO TWO YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON
FOR IMPERSONATING U.S. MARSHAL

DALLAS — Darrien Hathcock, 46, of Terrell, Texas, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge David C. Godbey to 24 months in federal prison, the high end of the U.S. Sentencing Guidelines, following his guilty plea in September 2009 to falsely impersonating a U.S. Marshal, announced U.S. Attorney James T. Jacks of the Northern District of Texas. Judge Godbey ordered that Hathcock’s sentence run consecutive to any of his state sentences.

Hathcock admitted that on July 9, 2009, that he rented two hotels under an assumed name. He falsely told the hotel manager that he worked for the U.S. Marshals Service and demanded that she allow him to use the rooms without providing payment in advance. Based upon this representation, the manager allowed Hathcock to take possession of the rooms. The use of the rooms was valued at $578.37 for the time Hathcock occupied them.

The case was investigated by the U.S. Marshals Service and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Camille E. Sparks.
