FEDERAL GRAND JURY CHARGES FORT WORTH, TEXAS, MAN
WITH POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

Defendant Faces Up to 10 Years in Federal Prison

FORT WORTH, Texas — Kenneth S. King, 63, of Fort Worth, Texas, has been charged in an indictment with possession of child pornography, announced U.S. Attorney James T. Jacks of the Northern District of Texas.

According to the indictment, between June 1, 2009 and July 15, 2009, King possessed images of child pornography on his computer. Following his arrest late last week, King was arraigned before U.S. Magistrate Judge Charles Bleil and a trial date was set for June 14, 2010. King was released on conditions of bond pending trial.

An indictment is an accusation by a federal grand jury and a defendant is entitled to the presumption of innocence unless proven guilty. However, if convicted, the possession count carries a maximum statutory sentence of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine. In addition, King could be ordered to serve up to a lifetime of supervised release.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood (PSC), a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), PSC marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement agents are investigating the case. Assistant U.S. Attorney Alex C. Lewis is in charge of the prosecution.
