DALLAS MAN ADMITS PRODUCING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY - Defendant Admits Sexually Assaulting 13-Year-Old Girl for Three Years DALLAS — Jesus Sandoval, 57, of Dallas, has pleaded guilty to one count of production of child pornography, announced U.S. Attorney James T. Jacks of the Northern District of Texas. Sandoval faces a maximum statutory sentence of not less than 15 years or more than 30 years in prison, a lifetime of supervised release and a $250,000 fine. Following his plea, U.S. District Judge Jorge A. Solis remanded Sandoval, who has been in state custody, to the custody of the U.S. Marshals Service. Sentencing is set for June 2, 2010, before Judge Solis. This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice, to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. For more information about Project Safe Childhood, please visit http://www.projectsafechildhood.gov/ The case is being investigated by the Dallas Police Department and the FBI and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Camille Sparks.
