DALLAS MAN SENTENCED TO 27 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON
FOR PRODUCING CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

Defendant Admitted Sexually Assaulting 13-Year-Old Girl for Three Years

DALLAS — Jesus Sandoval, 57, of Dallas, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Jorge A. Solis to 27 years in federal prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release, announced U.S. Attorney James T. Jacks of the Northern District of Texas. Sandoval pleaded guilty in March 2010 to one count of producing child pornography and was remanded from state custody into federal custody at that time.

According to plea papers filed, Sandoval admitted that beginning in July 2009 and continuing until August 21, 2009, he took lewd and lascivious photographs of 13-year-old “Jane Doe,” while she was in his custody and care at his home in Dallas. He also admitted that he took photographs of him and Jane Doe engaged in sexual positions. Sandoval further admitted that he had been sexually assaulting Jane Doe for approximately three years.

This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice, to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims. The case was investigated by the Dallas Police Department and the FBI and prosecuted by Assistant U.S. Attorney Camille Sparks.
