DALLAS MAN SENTENCED TO 27 YEARS IN FEDERAL PRISON DALLAS — Jesus Sandoval, 57, of Dallas, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Jorge A. Solis to 27 years in federal prison, to be followed by five years of supervised release, announced U.S. Attorney James T. Jacks of the Northern District of Texas. Sandoval pleaded guilty in March 2010 to one count of producing child pornography and was remanded from state custody into federal custody at that time. This case was brought as part of Project Safe Childhood, a nationwide initiative launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice, to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse. Led by U.S. Attorneys’ Offices and the Criminal Division's Child Exploitation and Obscenity Section (CEOS), Project Safe Childhood marshals federal, state and local resources to better locate, apprehend and prosecute individuals who exploit children via the Internet, as well as to identify and rescue victims.
