DYESS AIR FORCE BASE AIRMAN SENTENCED TO FEDERAL PRISON
ON FIREARMS CONVICTION

ABILENE, Texas — Porfirio Jose Sevilla-Urbina, 25, an airman stationed at Dyess Air Force Base, was sentenced today by U.S. District Judge Jorge A. Solis to one year in prison, to be followed by two years of supervised release, announced U.S. Attorney James T. Jacks of the Northern District of Texas. Sevilla-Urbina pleaded guilty in March 2011 to one count of making a false statement during the purchase of a firearm. Judge Solis ordered that he surrender to the Bureau of Prisons on July 16, 2011.

According to documents filed in the case, Sevilla-Urbina admitted that on numerous occasions, between September 29, 2009, and March 13, 2010, he provided what he knew to be incorrect information on the ATF Form 4473, Firearms Transaction Record, while purchasing up to 99 firearms during that time period.

The case was investigated by ATF and prosecuted by Deputy Criminal Chief Assistant U.S. Attorney Denise Williams of the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Lubbock, Texas.
