Sept. 11 "compensation"
To Kenneth L. Zwick, Director,
Office of Management Programs, Civil Division,
U.S. Department of Justice
In the aftermath of the horror of September 11, I urge you to disregard sexual orientation or marital status in decisions on eligibility for compensation -- as well as any such program can "compensate" -- for the loss of life partners or children.
It shouldn't matter, but in case it does: I am a (voting, taxpaying, church-going) heterosexual mother and grandmother. But my sexual orientation and marital status don't preclude a sense of justice as regards my gay and lesbian peers.
I hope that sense of justice is alive in the department of same.
Sincerely,
Individual Comment
