Re: Comments on the September 11th Victim Compensation Fund of 2001

Dear Mr. Zwick,

As the Sept. 11th fund decision has been opened for public comment, I wish to add my own thoughts to the long list of statements I am certain you have already received.

I hope you elect to distribute compensation to all parties affected by the Sept. 11th tragedy, and not just to the population who fits into the currently narrow definition of marriage. The idea of possibly discriminating against non-traditional families and partnerships will no little more than add insult to injury to many of those involved.

We have entered a new era in U.S. history where there is a call for unity and collectiveness. I ask, "what message is our government sending should it affords compensation only to legally married couples?" In order to stand as one, we must be treated as one. This is why I request you elect to extend compensation to unmarried couples, gays, lesbians, transgendered individuals, and their families.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,

Individual Comment
Mesa, AZ
