Victims Compensation Fund

My daughter's dear husband died in the World Trade Center, leaving her with two little girls, aged 2 and 3. A third child is due in March.

I am writing to you regarding the Victims Compensation Fund. My son-in-law             worked very hard and was earning a very good salary based on his commissions. Therefore, I don't think there should be a cap on what is received from the Fund.

Also, life insurance should not be deducted since they were paying high premiums over the years and should not be penalized for planning for the future.

Similarly, 401K's and IRA's and charitable contributions, for that matter, should not be deducted.

The victims' families need to know up front a base amount to calculate benefit before they waive their rights to other options.

If my daughter has to appear at any hearings, she would like to know the timing of the hearings since she is having a baby in late March.

Thank you for your consideration.
