Just compensation

To whom it may concern,
I want to address the issue of compensation for the families of gay and lesbian persons who were killed in the attack on September 11.
It seems to me that any effort to exclude partners or children of gay and lesbian persons who were killed or injured in the attack on the WTC would be unjust. Even though there is no law that allows gay and lesbian persons to think of their partners as a family, I believe with all my heart that there is a moral justice issue involved here. All persons and their families should receive the same consideration.
The terrorists who attacked the WTC made no differenciation as to race, gender, age or sexual orientation and neither should the regulations governing the compensation of victims and their families. As a citizen, I urge the committee to extend their compasion and that of the whole country to the partners and children of gay and lesbian persons who were victims on September 11.

Sincerely,
