Dear Mr. Zwick:

I am writing regarding the regulations for implementing and administering the "September 11 Victim Compensation Fund." I am appalled that this tragedy is being used by members of the far right to forward an agenda. I strongly urge the Department to draft regulations that ensure compensation is available to all victims of the attack, including the committed partners and the non-biological children of gay and lesbian victims.

It troubles me greatly to think that my government is actually contemplating compounding the horrendous loss experienced by gay and lesbian families by denying or unfairly distributing compensation. I fail to see how their pain or financial loss is any less significant than that of conventional families.

Outside terrorists made September 11th a dark day for our country. If our government decides to pick and chose between victims, deeming some not "worthy" of equal compensation, that dark day will be made even darker, only this time at the hands of fellow Americans.

Thank you for your time.

Sincerely,
