Compensation for victims

Kenneth L. Zwick, Director
Office of Management Programs, Civil Division
U.S. Department of Justice

Dear Mr. Zwick:

I am writing in response to your department's request for comments for compensation to the victims and their families of the attacks of September 11th. I would hope that the regulations for compensation do not include any exclusions based upon the sexual orientation of the individuals or their families. I would hope that the regulations would stress need-based assistance, covering both natural and adopted children.

The devastation endured by these families should not be magnified by some exclusionary government policy as the terrorists were nondiscriminatory in their attack and destruction of lives and futures. Most of the victims of the 11th had families that are in need of support now and they need to know that their government will do just that. I urge you to create a just and equitable set of regulations that will allow these families to continue their lives without feeling discrimination.

Sincerely,

Individual Comment
