Justice
I am writing as a Pastor of a local church in Stockton California. Even
though we are across the United States we feel the pain of September 11th. We
understand how important it is to help those in need. In fact our church sent
money to NYC via the Red Cross and our local church. I write this to ask the
you the United States Government to follow the example already set by New
York Governor Pataki in granting compensation benefits "on a showing of
mutual interdependence with the victim, in recognition that anyone who shared
with the victim living expenses, day-to-day activities and the emotional
bonds of family deserves help in this time of need."
I also ask the Justice Department to include among relatives eligible for
compensation those who lost their life partners as well as de facto parents
or children, without regard to sexual orientation or marital status. This is
the right thing to do for justice sake. You will be in my prayers as you
serve your country by making the hard decisions of justice.
