Sept 11 Victim Compensation Fund
Dear Mr. Zwick:
I am a former US DOJ attorney. I recently heard that there is a proposed
disparity in how the Victim Compensation Fund is to treat the loved ones of
gay and lesbian victims as opposed to other victims' loved ones.
Specifically, I was informed that the fund may not include the committed
partners and non-biological children of gay and lesbian victims. With our
national message of unity and compassion being the banner behind which we
fight the destructive and evil acts of international terror, I can't believe
that such a polarizing and unfeeling possibility exists. We must stand
together to relieve the pain of those who have suffered direct loss as a
result of the terror attacks of Sept 11, regardless of the sexual
orientation of the victims or their loved ones. Please be sure to extend
the compensation fund's coverage to include the committed partners and
non-biological children of gay and lesbian victims. Thank you.
Yours sincerely,
