September 11 Victim Compensation Fund
Dear Mr. Zwick:
I am writing as part of the public comments on how the money for victims
of September 11 should be spent. I believe that every family --
including those of gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgendered persons --
should be served by the Victim Compensation Fund. The life partners, as
well as de facto parents or children of victims, regardless of their
sexual orientation or marital status should be included in the fund.
The Republican Governor of New York, George Pataki has set a wonderful
example in proclaiming that compensation benefits will be granted to
those "on a showing of mutual interdependence with the victim, in
recognition that anyone who shared with the victim living expenses,
day-to-day activities and the emotional bonds of family deserves help in
this time of need." Our federal government should do no less.
Thank you for hearing my views.
Sincerely,
Individual Comment
